Production Central WM has officially launched, creating a single, dedicated point of access for film, television and content production across the West Midlands.

Designed to make the region easier to work in, easier to film in and easier to navigate, Production Central WM brings together locations, talent, facilities and production support into one coordinated service for UK and international producers.

Delivered by West Midlands Growth Company and officially endorsed by the West Midlands Combined Authority and the Mayor of the West Midlands, the service provides hands-on, practical support from early development through to delivery.

A single front door for production

Production Central WM acts as a one-stop shop for producers looking to base or bring projects to the region. The team works directly with production companies to support:

  • location scouting across cities, towns, heritage sites and adaptable industrial spaces
  • access to build space, studios, workshops, offices and storage
  • local crew and supply-chain sourcing at all levels of production
  • permits, logistics and coordination with local authorities
  • bespoke digital lookbooks tailored to each enquiry

The aim is to reduce friction, save time, and allow creative teams to focus on making the work.

Production-ready locations and space to build

The West Midlands offers a rare combination of recognisable urban environments, historic settings and large-scale, flexible space. Former industrial and brownfield buildings across the region are already being repurposed for filming, set builds and studio use, providing cost-effective and sustainable solutions for production.

With strong national connectivity and most of the UK reachable within a few hours, the region is well suited to both long-form production and agile content creation.

Talent, crew and creative infrastructure

Production Central WM connects productions directly to an established and growing regional workforce, from experienced heads of department through to emerging talent. This includes crew, technical specialists and a broad production supply chain that supports film, TV, commercial and digital content.

The service works closely with Create Central, the industry-led organisation championing the region’s creative industries, ensuring productions can tap into a connected ecosystem spanning screen, games, CreaTech and post-production.

A proven place for storytelling

The West Midlands has a long track record of hosting major productions alongside independent and digital work, doubling for locations in the UK and beyond while also offering authentic settings rooted in place.

From high-end TV and studio shows to new forms of content creation, the region continues to demonstrate its versatility as a filming location and creative base.

Industry-led launch in Digbeth

Production Central WM was formally introduced at a launch event held at The Bond, bringing together regional stakeholders, creative partners and local talent. Set within one of Birmingham’s most established production and creative hubs, the event reflected the service’s focus on practical delivery, collaboration and connecting productions directly with the people and places that make filming in the region work.

Built for producers

Production Central WM has been shaped around how producers actually work. Enquiries are handled directly by an experienced team with local knowledge, industry understanding and the authority to coordinate quickly across partners.

Rather than navigating a fragmented system, producers have a single point of contact to unlock what they need, when they need it.

As the official production services gateway for the region, Production Central WM marks a step change in how the West Midlands supports screen and content production – making it simpler to deliver ambitious projects, at pace, in the home of original storytelling.

Production Central WM is now open for enquiries.
